The Hike and Bike Trail is ~10 miles long and loops around the river, with excellent views of the city along the way. There are many entry points, including right by the LINE hotel (to the left of S. Congress bridge).
Paddle Boarding along the lake is a popular activity that offers beautiful views of the city. There are many places to rent along the river, with Austin Rowing Club being the closest to the LINE and downtown. Paddleboards and kayaks are available for hourly rentals. Go to https://austinrowing.org/hourly-rentals/ for more details.
Mount Bonnel offers beautiful views (after a short workout climbing the stairs). The best time to go is during sunset, or head there in the morning to avoid the crowds.
Home to ACL (Austin City Limits music festival), Zilker Park is a staple of Austin
Escape the city and enjoy a (relatively flat) hiking trail, with several trailheads throughout the city, including by Zilker Park (Violet Crown Trail, Zilker Park Trail Head)
South Congress Street is a vibrant and eclectic stretch just south of downtown (and walkable from the LINE). It is known for its unique shops, trendy boutiques, and an array of delicious eateries. Some of our favorite food stops include June's All Day, Neighborhood Sushi, Aba, Amy's Ice Cream, and the famous Home Slice Pizza. Hit up Allens Boots or Heritage Boot Co. to get into the cowboy spirit.
Our favorite taco spots include:
- Veracruz (in the lobby of the LINE, plus several other locations)
- El Primo food truck for breakfast tacos (S First St)
- Cuantos Tacos (E Austin taco truck)
- Popular chains include Tacodeli and Torchy's (multiple locations for both)
Mexican: ATX Cocina, El Alma, Comedor, Fresa's, Este, Mexta
Tex-Mex: Matt's El Rancho (we go here for the frozen margs!), Maudie's Cafe, Polvos
Our favorite BBQ spot in Austin. No reservations needed (or taken), but there will likely be a line!
